Chloe Payne

Last week, this young woman was busking near the corner of SW 9th Avenue and Yamhill Street (you can just see the Billions of People art exhibit in the background). She had a lovely voice, and was very unaffected for a street performer:

She chose an unlikely place to perform, right next to the MAX rails and a parking structure, slightly off the beaten path for most lunch hour pedestrians. And there was lots of this going on nearby:

But she remained unfazed by all the commotion and sweetly brought a bit of order to the cacophony.

I don’t know anything about her, except that she is friendly and talented. When I asked her for her card, she jotted her email address on a scrap of paper: Take a chance and hire her.

  1. I posted a video of her playing a few days before you posted this. Like I say in my post, there’s no good reason why she should have to play on the street corner.

    • Hello Matthew – Thank you for posting the nice video. Chloe’s voice is so lovely. I think Portland is a richer place because people like her share their talents on the sidewalks. That being said, yes, hopefully she finds a great job very soon. Thank you so much for your comment here. Lynn
