A New Coffeehouse

I am missing the Coffee Plant, my favorite local coffee shop, that closed in early March. But now it is time to move on and see what else Southwest Portland has to offer. This morning I had coffee at Xpressions Coffeehouse, which opened just two and a half weeks ago. In spite of its passionless name, the coffee here was carefully prepared, and the atmosphere was thoughtfully designed as a peaceful, comfortable space.

Xpressions is located at 4237 SW Corbett Avenue, at the Corner of SW Corbett and Bancroft, in the South Portland Neighborhood. Inside, I listened to world fusion and jazz while enjoying the charming features of the 1906 building.

The art on the walls is understated, and works well with the music. I had my laptop, and used the serene atmosphere (and free wi-fi) to compose some emails.

As you can see on the chalkboard behind Garry, Xpression’s “Signature Drinks” are made with some unusual ingredients.

We kept it simple with a latte and Americano, and both were very nice.

The coffee is from Mudd Works Roastery in Orchards, Washington. We got to Xpressions right at opening time, and the owner said her husband had not yet brought in the pastries, but luckily that was fine with us. She said that in a week or two, they will also have gluten-free options from a local bakery. I look forward to many Saturday mornings in this lovely place.
